Tales from the Vienna Woods
Excursions into the Vienna Woods have given pleasure to many people for many centuries.
I invite you for a half-day tour to the southern part of the Vienna Woods to see all its beautifel sights.
First, we drive to the Liechtenstein Castle, a Middle-aged castle, which gave its name to one of the oldest dynasty in Europe.
Then, our car takes us to the largest artificial subterranean lake in Europe and you will find out how once chalk mine became a well-visited tourist attraction and what role it played in WWII. Though it is not all about history, you can have fun as well! See what connects the former chalk mine with Hollywood and take a pleasant boat trip on the lake.
And our tour goes on!
Visit the medieval abbey of Heiligenkreuz, one of the oldest (1133) and most important monasteries in Austria.
Continue on to the former hunting lodge of Mayerling, the scene of a tragedy that shook the whole Europe and affected the European history course...
Through the picturesque valley “Helenental” we will reach Baden. Enjoy a guided tour of this tranquil resort town, in the past prefered by the emperors and musicians and today known mainly for its wellness and convention facilities.

The Wachau
UNESCO world heritage site since 2000 and one of the most picturesque regions in Austria. The tour to the Danube valley Wachau will take the whole day, but you will not regret having spent there 8 hours or even more! You are going to see and to know so many interesting things, like: wonderful churches and abbeys with the Austria oldest Benedictine Abbey Melk, a particular highlight among them. Or ruins of medieval castles, the most famous of which is the one in Dürnstein. According to a legend, the British king Richard the Lionheart was held captive there in 1192, until his faithful minstrel Blondel finally found him- and the king was fred. And you are going to stroll along old streets of Wachau towns Dürnstein and Krems. Don´t forget beautiful scenery of the Danube and ancient stone terraces where the wine have been grown since old times. Wachau is the most famous wine-making region in Austria. Why not to discover the regional highlights of wining and dining?
If you wish, you can try delicious local food in one of the numerous restaurants and enjoy stylish wine and liquor tasting in one of the wine shops... You will not notice how time flies...
